They
asked you to write a recommendation. Here’s some help.
Who you are writing to?
What qualifications is the scholarship sponsor looking for?
How it is to be delivered? Are you to mail it?
Or do you deliver it to someone else to send?
The student needs to give you a personal activity sheet
that might help you with details as you are writing.
And most importantly, when does it need to be sent?
Also…..
If someone could write a better, more personable recommendation than you, tell the student so.
But if you’re still the one…
Be as specific as possible.
Make the student as unique and special as possible. Include how long you have known them and in what capacity.
What characteristics have you observed that is important in an academic or work setting. Teamwork?....communication....leadership abilities.....
and specific knowledge areas are important.
Include your qualifications, full title and degree.
And thank you, a strong, personable recommendation still can carry a lot of weight.
